WIWS Grades Summer Camps 2026
  • WALDORF SUMMER CAMPS

Give your child the gift of screen-free summer in the big woods on Whidbey Island | 6335 Old Pietila Rd, Clinton, WA 98236 | (360) 341-5686
  • Our 2026 summer camps this summer will go from 9:00am to 3:00pm and will include three themes:

    HOMESTEADING SKILLS WITH SHADY

Homesteading with Shady is more than a summer camp—it is a soulful immersion into the rhythms of the earth. Guided by the gentle wisdom of Shady, children will leave the rush of the modern world behind to become true stewards of the wild.

Our Days in the Big Woods
Each morning begins within the warmth of our Circle, where traditional songs and games weave our community together. From there, we venture into the cedar groves for:

The Art of the Forest: Through daily "sit spots" and nature journaling, campers develop a quiet, keen observation of the living world around them.
Green Wisdom: We dive deep into Ethnobotany, learning to identify our plant neighbors and understand their ancient stories.
The Forest Apothecary: Hands-on medicine making turns wild-harvested herbs into healing salves and potions—the true craft of the homestead.
Ancestral Skills: From forest walks to the quiet joy of craft, we honor the Waldorf tradition of head, heart, and hands.
Give your child a summer rooted in the tall trees. Space is limited to preserve the intimacy of our forest circle.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE AND HIKING WITH ERIC

Join us for a summer experience designed for the active heart and the curious mind. Led by Eric, this camp is a dynamic journey that flows between the open meadow and the shaded cathedral of the big woods. We bridge the gap between team-building athleticism and the quiet wonder of the Pacific Northwest wilderness.

    The Best of Both Worlds

The Spirit of the Game: Dive into the world of Ultimate Frisbee. More than just a sport, Ultimate is built on the "Spirit of the Game"—a Waldorf-aligned philosophy of self-refereeing, mutual respect, and joyful competition. Eric guides players through skill-building, strategy, and the pure magic of a disc in flight.
Wander the Wild: When the pulse of the game slows, we retreat into the cool embrace of the tall cedars. Our Forest Hikes aren't just walks; they are explorations. We’ll seek out hidden trails, learn the language of the birds, and discover the secret ecosystems thriving right beneath our boots.
Balance & Connection: We start our days with movement and end them with the quiet satisfaction of a summit reached or a trail conquered. It’s a rhythmic balance of "out-breath" energy on the field and "in-breath" connection in the forest.

    AND LIFE-LONG FRIENDSHIPS!

PRINTMAKING AND SPANISH STORIES WITH ALAN

A journey of color, craft, and the vibrant spirit of South America.

This summer, we invite your child to step into a world where the lush forests of Whidbey Island meet the soulful rhythms of Venezuela. This camp is a celebration of "El Arte y El Cuento"—the art and the story. Guided by Alan, campers will explore the Spanish language through the lens of his rich cultural heritage.

    The Heart of the Program

The Soul of Venezuela: Alan brings the magic of his homeland to our forest circle. Through traditional Venezuelan folktales, rhythmic songs, and the "dichos" (sayings) of his culture, campers will experience Spanish as a living, breathing celebration of life.
Masterful Printmaking: In the spirit of Latin American graphic arts, children will learn the tactile craft of Printmaking. They will carve, ink, and press their own designs, creating visual "poemas" that reflect both the tall cedars of our woods and the stories of the Andes and the Llanos.
Hand-Crafted Literacy: We believe in learning through the hands. As campers carve their blocks and pull their prints, they will naturally absorb Spanish vocabulary, turning "la madera" (the wood) and "la tinta" (the ink) into a personal creative language.
