  • 2026 Application Guideline and Form

  • The SAME Central Virginia Post, with support from the SAME Blue Ridge Post, SAME Northern Viginia Post and SAME Washington DC Post, is now accepting applications from qualified high school students interested in attending the 2026 Virginia Tech Engineering & Construction Camp. 

    This program offers a hands-on, immersive experience designed to introduce high school students to careers in engineering, architecture, construction, and related STEM fields.

    Students selected for the camp will engage with industry professionals, participate in team-based projects, and gain exposure to real-world problem solving in a collaborative environment.

    Application Deadline: Friday, June 15, 2026
    All required materials must be submitted by the deadline to be considered.

    Please complete all sections of this application and upload the required supplemental materials. Incomplete applications may delay or prevent review.

    All applicants will be given notice of acceptance NLT July 1, 2026 (or sooner).

    Section Criteria

    The camp board will select the most qualified nominations from those who apply be the deadline. All applications will be sent to the SAME National Office for camper records.

    Payments & Fees

    A $50 deposit is required to complete your application. All applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by July 1. If selected, the deposit will be applied toward the full camp tuition. If not selected, the deposit will be refunded in full. Please note that deposits are non-refundable for accepted applicants who choose not to attend.

    Upon notification to the camper of the final acceptance, registration fees are due to the Camp Treasurer.

  • Once the applicant has been accepted, a copy of the participants's Insurance will be required.

    • Qualification Criteria 

    • To qualify for consideration, students must meet the following criteria:

      • Be a U.S. citizen
      • Be at least 15 years old and have completed their freshman year of high school at the time he/she departs for camp; rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors only, please.
      • Be enrolled in school at the time of the camp
      • Be on a high school track that will provide a basis for attending an accredited engineering college or university (i.e., taking appropriate math and science courses)
      • Have an intent to pursue a degree in architecture, engineering, construction or related field
      • Have demonstrated leadership characteristics through participation in extra-curricular activities, sports, and/or comunity activities
      • Be physically fit and healthy
      • Be of high moral character
      • Have not attended a SAME STEM Camp previously

  • Medical Release Form signed by your physician, stating that you are physically fit and/or indicating any known medical conditions that might limit participation in camp activities. If you have received a recent HS Sports or related activity physical that required the student to be physically fit to compete or participate, you may send in a copy of that form.
