• Falling for Dots

Nov 14 from 10:30am - 12:30 pm at Aplomb Gallery, 262 Central Ave, Dover, NH. Join our workshop bridging traditional First Nations dot painting techniques with autumn foliage. Using real fallen leaves or a painted leaf, acrylic paints, and fine-point dotting tools, you will create artwork featuring bold, concentric dot patterns and organic silhouettes that celebrate seasonal transition and connection to the land. Bring a few leaves or use ours! Traditional Aboriginal art, specifically Western Desert dot painting, uses visual symbols to pass down ancestral stories (Dreaming) and map country. To approach this project with cultural respect, we will focus on personal connection, using patterns to reflect your own personal connection to nature and seasonal changes, rather than copying sacred First Nations symbols. We plan to emphasize technique and reflection to treat the meditative process of dotting as a way to observe natural details, leaf structures, and seasonal cycles.
