  • We allocate 1 hour 30 minutes for each booking. You may request extra time later in this booking process.

    I'm sorry but we rarely accept groups of 7 or more as we are very small and try to be more intimate than a party place. However, we may consider a group for our quieter times. Please contact us on 0115 8223661 or complete a web enquiry form.

  • A Deposit is required for groups of 5 or more.

    Due to too many no shows, late cancellations and people overstating group size to get a bigger table, we unfortunately require a deposit of £5 per person.

  • Sadly Josephine's is too small to be child friendly

    Sorry but we do not class ourselves as child friendly and do not have baby change facilities, highchairs or facilities to store or host pushchairs and prams. This is also why we do not offer a child menu.

    Josephine's is very small and awkwardly shaped. It is unsafe for staff and customers trying to accomodate pushchairs and highchairs.

    We would rather you knew now than turn up and be disappointed.

    Apart from a 4 inch step into Josephine's everything is at ground level and we have an accessible toilet. 

    We have a ramp we can put out to help get wheelchairs including motorised ones in. It is a portable rubber one you may have seen elsewhere.

    We only have one area we can host a wheelchair at the table so it is vital you book well in advance.

  • We will extend your request to 1hr 45mins. Please check your booking confirmation if we have managed to do this. May result in a time change to accomodate.

  • Prosecco At Table

    Please note you will need to pay in advance for Prosecco at the table. This is because we will aim to have the bottle open, or ready to open, upon your arrival. Should you not turn up then the bottle may be wasted.

    It might not be possible to have Prosecco physically poured into glasses for you and waiting. Instead we will lead you and your guest/s to your table and whilst you get settled we will return as speedily as possible with Prosecco. We cannot guarantee this because of demands from other customers.

  • Window Tables

    It is not possible to request a window table as tables are allocated depending on the flow of bookings to maximise bookings.

    If you are a Gold VIP keyring holder we will automatically try and reserve your preferred table. If you have indicated you are flexible on time then there is more chance you will get a window table but it is not guaranteed.

    Return of Deposit:

    We are only small and no-shows and cancellations have a very big impact on the business. Not just wasted time and cost in food, but we may have brought in extra staff which turns the loss of income into an actual loss because of increased costs.

    Additionally we may have turned away other guests and larger tables are harder to fill as groups tend to book further in advance.

    Because of this we require 72 hrs notice for tables of 5 or 6. Where we have accepted a group of 7 or more, 7 days notice is required.
