1. Immersion Orchestra Program
$115 Early Bird / $140 Standard
Tuition covers the student's enrollment in Immersion Weekend. They will have dedicated sessions with Ernest Richardson to rehearse and prepare for the Celebration Concert. Members of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra will also be on site for additional coaching and mentoring. Immersion Weekend is an extremely rewarding and unique experience for students, and you can count on Maestro Ernest providing amazing nuggets of wisdom and inspiration for all involved!
Requirements for Immersion Orchestra
Students of all ages, from early stages to advanced level of learning in bowed string instruments (violin, viola, cello, and double bass, Suzuki Books 1 - 10 or equivalent), are invited to participate in the Immersion Orchestra Program. With help from their teachers, participants will select ability-appropriate pieces from provided repertoire which they will prepare before Immersion Weekend begins.
The Immersion Orchestra performs at the Celebration Concert on Sunday afternoon.

Participation in the Immersion Orchestra is a course requirement for students enrolled in the Steamboat Springs High School Orchestra (SSHSO). They are exempt from paying the Immersion Orchestra Program registration fee. Please use the code provided to you when checking out.
2. Chamber Ensemble Program
$140
Chamber Ensemble participants are grouped by skill level into small ensembles, such as a string quartet or trio, and assigned a specific piece to prepare with their coach. Tuition includes three private coaching sessions with a Steamboat Symphony Orchestra musician prior to Immersion Weekend. Participants will also receive at least one coaching session with SSO Conductor Ernest Richardson and additional dedicated time with their coach during Immersion Weekend.
This Chamber Ensemble experience combines the benefits of small-group learning with individualized attention, helping students deepen their musicianship, sharpen their focus, and build lasting connections with fellow musicians.
Requirements for Chamber Ensemble
String students at Suzuki Book 2 level and higher with strong note-reading skills may register to participate in a Chamber Ensemble.
* Please note, students will be placed in an ensemble only if enough students with similar abilities register.
- Chamber Ensemble registration deadline is Friday, September 18, 2026
- Yes - this is a very tight turnaround to register for Chamber
- Chamber rehearsals will be scheduled based on student availability, with rehearsals starting the weekend of October 3, 2026
- Each group will be scheduled for THREE rehearsals with their coach before Immersion Weekend.
