  • We believe that grieving is an essential human need, something that shouldn’t just be available for those with the resources to pay money for it. Therefore, there is no set cost to participate in this grief ceremony.

We estimate $6,000 in total expenses for this event, including meaningful financial support for the facilitators, cost for the space, and supplies. In our dream world, we would offer this ceremony weekend as a community giveaway, but we are not in a position to offer that given the truth of our financial realities.

So, we do the best we can in extending the offer here in hopes that people will join in, asking for what they need and offering what they can. We’ll cover all costs with 20 participants contributing an average of $300. If some are able to give more financially, it will help cover the costs of those who need to contribute less.

Please contribute the most you can that feels within your capacity, knowing that doing so will help to uplift this effort and make it available for folks who have less in the way of financial resources. One way to find your capacity is through a thought experiment: Imagine contributing $300. If this feels like too big of a stretch and beyond your capacity at this time, lower the number until it feels good - a stretch, but not an overstretch. If imagining contributing $300 feels very comfortable, increase the number in your mind until it feels good - like a stretch, but not an overstretch. We’re going for feeling generous - and responsible to the truth of your needs.

We will communicate with all registered participants about actual income and expenses for this offering. If you have more questions, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Collectively, we can make shared spaces for grieving more widely available and accessible in the Methow Valley.
