When he turned 50 in 2011, Bob Yates retired from his career as a lawyer and telecommunications company executive to serve the Boulder community. In the 15 years since, Bob has served as a leader in organizations as diverse as Boulder Community Health, the All Roads homeless shelter, the Museum of Boulder, CU's Center for Leadership and Conference on World Affairs, Boulder Housing Partners, Chautauqua, the Dairy Arts Center, Parks & Recreation, and Downtown Boulder.
He has raised millions of dollars through capital campaigns for a half-dozen local nonprofits. And he served eight years on the Boulder City Council, including a term as Mayor Pro Tem.
Bob teaches law school courses, leads the CU undergraduate mentorship program, and is a kindergarten reader for the YWCA's Reading to End Racism project. Since 2016, Bob has published a monthly newsletter, The Boulder Bulletin, which highlights good work by community nonprofits and municipal government, to which more than 9,000 Boulder households subscribe.
Bob says that, although he is proud of the service he has offered the community over the last 15 years, he is just getting started.
