Welcome to the Considerations in Supervision: Exploring the Person of the Therapist with Brainspotting registration page.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Brainspotting Phase 1 training is required before registering for this workshop.
This workshop will include lecture, live demonstration, and a dyadic practicum in which participants have the the opportunity to fully experience Brainspotting as a client and practitioner. Due to the highly experiential nature of the training, it is critical that all participants are fully present for the entire training. Training will be held 8:30am-5:00pm CST. There will be breaks in morning and afternoon, and a 45 minute lunch break.
During this workshop, you will explore a unique approach to using Brainspotting to deepen your understanding of how your and your supervisee's personal experiences influence and can enrich the therapeutic process. Drawing on Harry Aponte’s Person of the Therapist Training (POTT) model, we will examine how a therapist’s history, emotional wounds, and identity are not barriers, but powerful tools. When therapists engage with their own inner work, they can connect with clients more authentically, empathically, and effectively.
1-2 hours of reflective preparation is required prior to the workshop. Prompts will be provided with your registraiton confirmation.
To maximize your experience, consider the following:
*Your virtual experience will be best if you area able to use a computer, rather than a tablet or phone.
*It is best to use the app for Zoom rather than a web based Zoom account.
*Plan to be present for all parts of the training and have a private space for the experiential components.
*Consider all other factors that may impact your ability to be present for the training. Please do not plan to hold meetings over lunch break or other times during the training. Consider preparing meals in advance so you can rest and relax during your down time.
*You are expected to keep your camera on during the training, with the understanding that you may need periodically take a screen break.
*This training will be presented in English and Zoom generated Closed Captioning will be enabled.
Do whatever supports you to bring your most curious and open self to this training. Remember to have your pointer and biolateral music.
During Brainspotting Trainings you will have the opportunity to both witness and practice live Brainspotting sessions. This teaching is highly experiential and you may experience activation during the process. I encourage you to engage in meaningful self-care throughout the training and reach out to any of the facilitators for support. Additionally, please remember that the practicums are for practice purposes and while healing may occur, we encourage you to focus on issues that are well within your system's window of tolerance.
