  • Description of Camp Activities:

Liftoff Lab is an educational camp introducing children to the fundamentals of
    model rocketry. Activities include:
    - Classroom-style lessons on basic physics, aerodynamics, and engineering
    - Hands-on construction of model rockets using commercially manufactured
    kits (e.g., Estes or similar)
    - Handling small parts and lightweight tools appropriate for the age group,
    under supervision
    - Launching completed model rockets outdoors using commercially
manufactured, low-power model rocket motors, in accordance with the
National Association of Rocketry (NAR) model rocket safety code
The camp will be held at 60 Acres Park in Redmond, but there’s a slight
possibility the location may change (due to influences like bad weather).

    Assumption of Risk

I understand that model rocketry, like many hands-on educational activities, carries
inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:
    - Minor cuts, scrapes, or puncture wounds form hobby tools, small parts, or
    building materials
    - Burns or eye injury from rocket motor ignition, exhaust, or a rocket’s flight
    and recovery, on launch day
    - Injury from a failing or malfunctioning rocket, or from being struck by a
rocket or its recovery components during descent
    - General risks associated with outdoor activity, including weather, uneven
    ground, and insect exposure

    Release and Waiver of Liability

I, the undersigned parent/legal guardian, on behalf of myself, my child, and our
heirs and assigns, agree as follows:
    - I voluntarily allow my child to participate in all camp activities described
above, with full knowledge of the risks involved.
    - To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release, discharge, and hold harmless
the camp instructor/organizer from any and all claims, demands, or causes of
action arising from ordinary risks inherent to the described activities, except to
the extent caused by gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct.
    - I understand that this camp is an informal, individually-run program and is not
affiliated with a licensed childcare facility, school, or incorporated business,
and I am relying on my own judgement in choosing to enroll my child.

    Code of Conduct Acknowledgement

I understand that my child is expected to follow all safety instructions given by the
camp instructor at all times, including during tool use, building sessions, and
launch day. I understand that failure to follow safety instructions or destructive
actions may result in my child being asked to sit out or being sent home for the
    safety of all participants.

If parents are over 25 minutes late to pickup, an additional late fee of $50 will be charged.
