VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
By registering as a volunteer, you agree to:
• Arrive at your assigned time
• Check in with the volunteer coordinator
• Remain at your assigned station unless released or reassigned
• Treat attendees, speakers, vendors, sponsors, staff, and other volunteers respectfully
• Follow instructions from event leadership
• Maintain professional conduct
• Keep confidential information private
• Avoid disrupting speaker sessions
• Avoid excessive personal phone use while assigned to a role
• Ask the event team for help when uncertain rather than guessing
• Notify the conference team as soon as possible if you can no longer volunteer
• Follow Brooklyn Navy Yard and venue rules
• Maintain safe and accessible walkways
• Complete assigned responsibilities before leaving your shift
VOLUNTEER DISCOUNT TERMS
Confirmed volunteers receive $30 OFF one Joint Conference + SLP Social Seen Garden Party ticket.
Regular Joint Ticket: $250
Volunteer Price: $220
The discount:
• Applies only to eligible Joint Tickets
• Is intended for the confirmed volunteer
• Is non-transferable
• Cannot be exchanged for cash
• Cannot be combined with other promotional offers unless expressly allowed
• May be revoked if volunteer eligibility is canceled or forfeited
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you are confirmed and later become unable to volunteer, please notify:
BlackSLPMagic@gmail.com as soon as possible.
Repeated no-shows, abandoning an assignment without notice, or failing to report for your confirmed shift may result in removal from future #BlackSLPMagic volunteer opportunities.
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
#BlackSLPMagic is committed to maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.
Volunteer conduct that may result in immediate removal includes:
• Harassment
• Discrimination
• Threatening behavior
• Intoxication while volunteering
• Disruptive behavior
• Theft
• Unsafe conduct
• Significant insubordination
• Deliberate interference with conference operations
• Inappropriate treatment of attendees, speakers, vendors, or staff
Removal from a volunteer assignment may result in forfeiture of volunteer benefits.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Volunteers may become aware of private or logistical information involving:
• Attendees
• Speakers
• Sponsors
• Vendors
• Staff
• Event operations
Volunteers agree not to share private attendee information, contact information, internal event information, passwords, visitor-pass information, or other confidential details obtained through their role.
PHOTO + VIDEO RELEASE
Professional photographers, videographers, and content creators will be present throughout the event.
By volunteering at the 6th Annual #BlackSLPMagic Conference and/or SLP Social Seen Garden Party, you understand that you may be photographed, filmed, or recorded.
You grant #BlackSLPMagic Conference and SLP Social Seen permission to use your:
• Image
• Likeness
• Voice
• Appearance
• Participation
in event-related materials, including:
• Social media
• Websites
• Conference recaps
• Promotional materials
• Advertisements
• Email marketing
• Future event promotion
• Print and digital publications
• Archival content
You understand that you will not receive additional compensation for use of these materials.
LIABILITY + PERSONAL PROPERTY
Volunteers are responsible for their own personal belongings.
#BlackSLPMagic Conference, SLP Social Seen, event organizers, Brooklyn Navy Yard, and DSGN Gallery are not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged personal property.
Volunteers agree to follow reasonable safety instructions and notify event leadership of unsafe conditions.
VOLUNTEER ACKNOWLEDGMENT

☐ I understand that my final role may differ from my preferred role.
☐ I understand that confirmed volunteers must attend the volunteer Zoom orientation unless excused by the conference team.
☐ I understand the volunteer ticket discount is $30 off an eligible $250 Joint Ticket, making the volunteer ticket price $220.
☐ I agree to arrive on time and complete my assigned duties.
☐ I agree to follow all event, venue, and Brooklyn Navy Yard policies.
☐ I agree to the Professional Conduct Policy.
☐ I agree to the Confidentiality Policy.
☐ I agree to the Photo/Video Release.
☐ I have reviewed this form and agree to the Volunteer Terms & Conditions.
