Communiversity Course Registration

Interrupting Criminalization is offering another “Communiversity” series in Brooklyn starting in September and October 2026!

Last year, we partnered with Women Building Up to organize an anti-criminalization Communiversity series. In 2026, Women Building Up will once again host a Communiversity series organized by IC. This time, the focus is Healing Justice (HJ).

As defined by the Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective, HJ “is a political strategy…to intervene and respond to generational trauma and systemic oppression, and build community/survivor led responses rooted in southern traditions of resiliency to sustain our emotional/physical/spiritual/psychic and environmental well being.”

First Aid for the People is a class meant to introduce basic first aid/street medical knowledge to the masses. This includes but is not limited to situational awareness and assessment, basic physiology, communication, CPR, stop the bleeding, and overdose reversal. 

We ground our teaching in our revolutionary politics and in the tradition of movements such as the Lincoln Detox People’s Program and all those who recognized that health/care is a terrain of revolutionary struggle. Seize the hospitals! Serve the People!
