Cache Valley Figure Skating Club 2026 Winter Show Agreement for Skaters and Parents

This agreement is a commitment by both skaters and parents to support the success and enjoyment of each participant in the Cache Valley Figure Skating Club (CVFSC) 2026 Winter Show and to contribute to a positive club environment. Please read each section carefully and sign at the end to acknowledge your understanding and acceptance of these expectations.

Skater Learning Opportunities for Show Production Format

1. Develop and Demonstrate Group Skating Skills: Actively participate in group practices, learning and refining group formations and synchronized elements.
2. Maintain Rhythm: Practice timing, count music as required, and stay in rhythm with other skaters to enhance performance quality.
3. Cultivate Program Component Skills and Showmanship: Work on presentation skills such as interpretation, facial expressions, body language, and style to engage the audience and express the artistry of skating.

Skater Expectations
As a CVFSC Skater, I understand that I am expected to:

1. Uphold Rehearsal Etiquette: Arrive on time, stay focused during practice, respect coaches and fellow skaters, and come prepared to work toward club goals. Downtime during rehearsals while waiting for my turn is expected, and being respectful of other skaters who are rehearsing will help build positive relationships and a supportive environment for everyone. Due to the condensed practice time to get ready for this show, all practices and dress rehearsals are mandatory.
2. Show Sportsmanship: Celebrate accomplishments, both personal and those of other skaters, showing respect for everyone's efforts. Recognize and honor collective club achievements. 
3. Appreciate Different Show Opportunities:
   
   • Winter Show: This large-scale production allows all skaters to work together as a team, learning the coordination and teamwork necessary to create a full-scale show that engages audiences and brings everyone’s talents together.
   • Spring Show: This show is a wonderful opportunity for skaters to showcase their amazing skating skills in a solo and duet setting, highlighting individual accomplishments and style.

Parent Expectations
As a CVFSC Parent, I understand that I am expected to:

1. Model Good Sportsmanship: Demonstrate respect for coaches, fellow parents, and all skaters by showing courtesy and encouragement.
2. Celebrate Accomplishments with My Skater: Acknowledge both the successes and the efforts of my skater and their peers, helping them appreciate the value of their achievements.
3. Help Manage My Skater’s Expectations: Support my skater in understanding that roles are determined based on a combination of skills, attitude, work ethic, and suitability for each role. Help them to see the value in all roles, whether leading or supporting.
4. Parental Support for Roles and Choreographer Decisions: Support choreographers/coaches in their creative and casting decisions and to encourage their skaters, whether they receive leading or supporting roles in the final winter show cast.
5. Communicate Questions To the Proper Party: Questions regarding skating/on ice should be addressed with the choreographer. Where appropriate, skaters are encouraged to reach out to their coaches directly. Show organization questions (ie: Safe sport, tickets, volunteering) can be answered by club chairs over varying Winter Show committees.  

Role Selection Understanding
As a skater and parent, we understand that:

1. Participation in Club Number, group numbers, step-outs and solos: Skaters will be invited to participate in one club production number, a group number and either a step-out or solo. 
2. Solos are Assigned Based on Skills, Attitude, and Work Ethic: Solos are not guaranteed and are chosen at the coaches’ discretion, focusing on a skater’s abilities, commitment, and fit for the role.

Volunteer Expectations
As a CVFSC Family, we agree to:

1. Volunteer for 1 committee and 1 night of show slot: Each family is required to sign up for committee volunteer duties to ensure the smooth operation of our events and shows. Each family is also expected to help with clean-up on the final night of production. Club adult skaters performing are exempt from night of show volunteer duties. Volunteers are crucial to our production's success. Volunteer sign-ups for commitees will be available at the conclusion of this registration -- night of show volunteer sign ups will come out closer to show date.
   Failure to sign up to volunteer will be an automatic dismissal from skater’s show participation. 
2. Receive General Admission Seating for Volunteering: In recognition of volunteer contributions, each volunteer family will receive two tickets for general admission seating to be used at either Saturday show. Limited reserved seating will be offered to our club families first for purchase before being open to the public.

By signing below, both skater and parent agree to uphold these expectations, understand the role assignment process, and commit to the volunteer requirements outlined by CVFSC. We recognize that adhering to these guidelines is essential for maintaining a supportive, respectful, and enjoyable club environment for all. If for whatever reason your skater is not able to participate, the show's registration fee is non-refundable.

2. Learn to Skate: One excused absence is allowed for rehearsals but should be communicated with the coach first. Skaters should meet with a teammate before the next rehearsal to learn what they have missed.  
3. Show Sportsmanship: Celebrate accomplishments, both personal and those of other skaters, showing respect for everyone's efforts. Recognize and honor collective skating achievements. 

Parent Expectations
As a Parent of a skater, I understand that I am expected to:

1. Model Good Sportsmanship: Demonstrate respect for coaches, fellow parents, and all skaters by showing courtesy and encouragement.
2. Celebrate Accomplishments with My Skater: Acknowledge both the successes and the efforts of my skater and their peers, helping them appreciate the value of their achievements.

Volunteer Expectations
As a Skating Family participating in the CVFSC Winter Show, we invite you to join a volunteer committee. It is not mandatory this year but it's a wonderful way to get an inside look at the CVFSC volunteering needs and how the show comes together. 

Agreement

We recognize that adhering to these guidelines is essential for maintaining a supportive, respectful, and enjoyable club environment for all. If for whatever reason your skater is not able to participate, the show's registration fee is non-refundable.
