How a Kitchen Table Conversation Sparked a Preservation Movement

   In the early 1960s, Indian Hill residents Betty Hobson, Phyllis Rowe, and Margo Tytus saw Greater Cincinnati’s historic places disappearing and founded the Miami Purchase Association, which later became Cincinnati Preservation.

   Presented by Cincinnati Preservation Executive Director Beth Johnson, this program highlights how these three women helped launch the area’s preservation movement through successes with imperiled sites, advocacy campaigns, and educational efforts. Their work influenced the preservation ethic of our region.

   More than 60 years later, their legacy remains visible in places we cherish and the ongoing efforts to save Greater Cincinnati’s historic buildings, neighborhoods, landscapes, and stories.
