Gerald Lampert Memorial Award
for a debut book of poetry
The Gerald Lampert Memorial Award is given in the memory of Gerald Lampert, an arts administrator who organized authors’ tours and took a particular interest in the work of new writers. The award recognizes a first book of poetry published by a Canadian. The award carries a $2,000 prize and is awarded annually in May.

Pat Lowther Memorial Award
for a book of poetry by a woman
This award is inclusive of cis women, trans women, and non-binary individuals who feel comfortable being recognized by a women’s prize. The Pat Lowther Memorial Award is awarded in memory of the late Pat Lowther, whose career was cut short by her untimely death in 1975.  The Pat Lowther Memorial Award carries a $2000 prize and is awarded annually in May.

Raymond Souster Award
for a book of poetry by a League member
The Raymond Souster Award honours Raymond Souster, an early founder of the League of Canadian Poets, and carries a $2000 prize, awarded annually in May.

The 2027 Book Awards welcomes books published between December 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026.

Submission Fees

There is a $25 submission fee per title, per award. (i.e. I am submitting to both the Lampert and Lowther award so my submission fee would be $50 in total.) There is a reduced bulk submission fee available for equity-deserving writers facing systemic barriers or discrimination.

The League is offering a flat fee of $25 no matter how many awards you apply for.

Without a fee reduction, each title submitted would require a $25 submission fee for each eligible award (eg. a debut book of poetry by a League member who is a woman is eligible for all three [3] awards, and would require a $75 submission fee).

A fee reduction means the eligible title will have a fee of $25 flat, no matter how many awards it is considered for.
