LEADERSHIP SIDNEY PROGRAM COMMITMENTS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Leadership Sidney is a community leadership development program coordinated by the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture. Through interactive class sessions, community engagement, and networking opportunities, participants gain a deeper understanding of the organizations, industries, and people that shape Sidney and Richland County.
The program is most successful when the participant, employer, and Chamber work together. By submitting this application, both the participant and employer acknowledge and support the following program commitments.
Attendance & Participation
Leadership Sidney is designed as a cohort experience where each participant contributes to the success of the class. Classes are held the second Wednesday, September through April, from 8AM to 4PM. Participants are expected to:
- Attend all scheduled Leadership Sidney class sessions.
- Arrive on time and actively engage in discussions, tours, and activities.
- Notify the program coordinators as soon as possible if an unavoidable conflict arises.
- Have no more than two (2) excused absences during the program year. Additional absences may affect successful completion of the program.
Community Engagement
Leadership extends beyond the classroom. Throughout the program year, participants will broaden their understanding of local leadership by:
- Attending one (1) City Council meeting. (Sidney or Fairview)
- Attending one (1) Richland County Commissioners meeting.
- Attending one (1) School District Board meeting. (Sidney - Fairview - Lambert - Savage - Rau - Brorson)
- Attending one (1) nonprofit board or public organization meeting.
- Volunteering at one (1) Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture event.
Participants will share key takeaways from these meetings or events at the next class session.
Class Leadership Project
Since 1998, each Leadership Sidney class has completed a community project that leaves a lasting impact on Sidney and Richland County. Participants are expected to actively contribute to all phases of the class project, including planning, collaboration, fundraising (if applicable), volunteer efforts, and project implementation.
Professionalism
Participants are expected to:
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect during all program activities.
- Foster a respectful and collaborative learning environment.
- Respect differing viewpoints and maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
- Represent themselves, their employer, Leadership Sidney, and the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture in a positive and professional manner.
Successful Completion
Participants who fulfill these program commitments will receive a Leadership Sidney Certificate of Completion and be recognized during the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture Annual Banquet.
Employer Support
Leadership Sidney is an investment in both the participant and the future of our community. Employer support is essential to each participant's success.
By endorsing this application, the employer acknowledges the program's time commitment and agrees to reasonably support the participant's attendance at scheduled class sessions, community engagement activities, volunteer opportunities, and the class leadership project whenever possible. While occasional business conflicts may arise, employer support is essential to maximizing the participant's experience and the value of the program.
