• Elul Spiritual Challenge 2026

with Rabbi Susan Goldberg and the Nefesh Community
  • This Elul, join Rabbi Susan Goldberg for 4 weeks of self-guided, spiritual preparation for the upcoming High Holy Days.

In the month of Elul, which precedes Rosh Hashanah, we have the opportunity to prepare for the meaningful experiences and possibilities of the High Holy Days. Our tradition asks us to engage in a cheshbon hanefesh, an accounting of our souls. There are many ways to do so.

Join us for a special week by week series of video teachings and preparation practices, The Elul Spiritual Challenge. We will begin on August 16th.

This year's focus of our practice is Showing Up (Zerizut). Zerizut means enthusiasm, alacrity, timeliness, prompt willingness. The distillation of it is "showing up." Let's spend a month focusing on how we show up, how we show up for ourselves, for our beloveds, for our community, and for the world as a way to prepare for the year ahead, and what will hopefully be a year full of showing up-ness in all the different ways.

You are encouraged to support your practice in chevruta/study/practice partnerships. You can opt to be paired with someone when you sign up OR enter the challenge with a partner of your choosing. Or choose to do it solo.

We will also have an optional zoom session with Rabbi Susan in the middle of the month to share how it is going and to ask any questions. All the details below:
