    Auditions are designed to evaluate each dancer’s current skill level, performance ability, work ethic, and readiness for placement on an ICE Studios Competition Team.

    FLEXIBILITY EVALUATION
    Premier-Level
    Right split
    Left split
    Center split or actively working toward it

    Elite-Level
    Elite dancers should demonstrate all Premier-level flexibility skills PLUS:

    AUDITION UNIFORM
    Dancers must arrive in:

    All-black dancewear
    Hot pink and/or white accents are allowed
    ICE Studios apparel is permitted
    Clean tennis shoes/sneakers appropriate for dancing
    Hair secured neatly away from the face
    No graphic T-shirts or outside logos.

    Dancers should arrive dressed and ready to begin on time.

    Small towel if needed
    Any necessary dance or athletic support items
    Positive attitude
    Energy and readiness to work


    IMPORTANT
    Auditioning does not guarantee placement on a competition team. Dancers will be placed based on their overall evaluation, current skill level, readiness, commitment level, and the needs of each team.

    Placement is based on the whole dancer. One advanced trick or skill does not automatically determine team placement.

    Dancers may be placed on the team that ICE Studios believes will best support their growth and success for the 2026–2027 season.

    Auditions are designed to evaluate each dancer’s current technical foundation, performance ability, work ethic, and readiness to participate on the ICE Studios Beginner Jazz Competition Team.

    AUDITION PREREQUISITE

    Dancers must have a minimum of 2 years of previous training in one or more of the following:

    Ballet
    Jazz
    Contemporary
    This team is designed for dancers who are newer to competition dance but already have a basic foundation in dance technique.

    FLEXIBILITY EVALUATION

    Dancers may be evaluated on:

    Back and shoulder flexibility
    Dancers are not required to have every flexibility skill mastered, but should demonstrate an appropriate level of flexibility and a willingness to continue developing.

    No oversized clothing, graphic T-shirts, or outside logos.

    The audition team must be able to clearly see the dancer’s body alignment and technique.

    IMPORTANT

    Auditioning does not guarantee placement on the Beginner Jazz Competition Team.

    Placement is based on the dancer’s overall evaluation, technical foundation, performance ability, coachability, commitment level, and readiness for competition training.

    Dancers are evaluated as a whole dancer. One advanced skill does not automatically determine placement.

    Dancers accepted onto the Jazz Competition Team will be required to participate in the designated Leaps & Turns class as part of their continued technical training.

  • Elite Contemporary/Jazz Competition Team (Advanced | Placement Required)

     

    This advanced competition class is built for dedicated dancers ready to train and compete at a high level. Students will build upon a strong ballet foundation while expanding their movement in a competitive environment. Training will be intense, technically demanding, and focused on individual growth and performance excellence. Strength conditioning and technical precision are central to this class, preparing dancers for the demands of competitive stages.

    Requirements:
    • Strong ballet and contemporary foundation
    • Full split on both sides
    • Triple pirouette
    • 180° leaps on both sides
    • Clean lines and strong overall technique
    • Demonstrated dedication and ability for rigorous training

     

    Uniform: 

    Black Leotard

    Tights (Can wear dance skirt or leggings)
