    Winterfest is our BIGGEST and MOST FUN fundraising event of the year! Over $20,000 is raised each year during this event that goes directly back to our students in the form of assemblies, author studies, and teacher grants. All Ironia families are expected to help out in some way!

    Calling all 5th grade parents! All of these special events below cannot happen without your help! Please consider signing up to help with at least one fifth grade activity. Please note: joining these committees requires helping to plan the event, and not just to volunteer at the event. Events that do not get volunteers will not happen.

  • What is a Room Parent?

    Each homeroom will have two room parents. The primary role of the room parent is to work with the other grade level room parents and teachers to coordinate and run class parties. Halloween and Holiday parties are held each year and are typically 90 minutes long. Parties include snacks, crafts, games, etc. Additional room parent functions include: chaperone for out-of-school field trips (when needed), collect and organize teacher gifts for the holiday and end of year, organize and attend your grade level's fun night, and create a grade level Winterfest basket.

    If more than two parents volunteer for one classroom, the volunteers will be picked randomly. Our annual room parent meeting is scheduled for Friday, 10/2 @ Ironia @ 9:30 am. Attendance is encouraged, but not required.

  • What is a Head Room Parent?

    Each grade level will have one Head Room Parent. In addition to being a room parent for one of the classes, the Head Room Parent will coordinate all grade level meetings and communications with all room parents. The Head Room Parent will be the staff liaison. It is his/her responsibility to ensure that all plans are shared and approved by grade level teachers and all menus are approved by the school nurse. The Head Room Parent will also ensure a room parent is responsible for a grade level Winterfest basket (budget to be determined based on donations received) and 2 room parents are responsible for arranging the grade level Fun Night in the Spring. (*Head Room Parent should have one year room parent experience.)

  • We are also in need of one Special Ed room parent and one Special Area room parent. They will be in charge of helping with gift money collection and handing out holiday and end of year gifts. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to help out but looking for less responsibilities OR for someone who does not get picked to be a different room parent. Are you interested in being considered to be our Special Ed or Special Area room parent if you don't get picked to be a room parent?*
