Honoring a Lifetime of Leadership, Service and Love for Tennis
For nearly five decades, Rex Maynard has helped shape tennis in South Carolina and beyond—not through personal recognition, but through his unwavering commitment to serving others.

A graduate of Wofford College, Rex has demonstrated a lifelong dedication to learning, leadership and volunteer service. He helped establish the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame, directed the Palmetto Championships for decades, founded the South Carolina Men’s Collegiate Championships, and served as President of both USTA South Carolina and USTA Southern. He has also chaired both the South Carolina Tennis Foundation and the Southern Tennis Foundation and contributed his leadership to numerous USTA national committees.

More importantly, Rex has encouraged generations of young people to pursue education, demonstrate good character and sportsmanship, give back to their communities and remain connected to the lifetime sport of tennis.

The Rex Maynard Scholarship Endowment is being established through the South Carolina Tennis Foundation to honor that legacy. Earnings from the endowed fund will support scholarships for deserving South Carolina students who reflect the qualities Rex has modeled throughout his life:
