    At BYSL, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience for our cheerleaders and dancers. This year, we are pleased to offer two distinct events—a showcase and a showcase competition—designed to be budget-friendly while ensuring fantastic value. Our talented athletes deserve to have their skills acknowledged and celebrated.


    EVENT 1 (OPEN TO ALL):
    Battle of the Decades Showcase Competition

    (THEME: FREE STYLE)

    Date: 9/27/2026

    Time: 11am-4pm
    (Arrival time for teams to register: 9:30am)


    (Free Style Theme) - performance, judges (optional), and awards.


    LOCATION: TBA

    • Entry team fee $100.00 per level -OR- $250.00 (4 LEVELS)
    • Age Groups : 6u, 8u ,10u ,12u ,14u, 16u (Minimum Group: 3)
    • Group can only be combined if the level totals up to 15 participants or less (Call to inquire)
    • Fee Deadline per level: 09/16/2026
    • Setup time: 2 mins Performance Time: 2.5 minutes (time will start once DJAY starts music)
    • Presale Tickets will be offered : $15.00
      Door Entry: $20.00 

    Cancellation Policy
    In the event of inclement weather or natural disasters, the Big Youth Sports League Cheer and Dance reserves the right to cancel scheduled events. Teams must adhere to the 72HRS policy regarding cancellations prior to the event. In the case that a team decides to cancel, the Big Youth Sports League Cheer and Dance retains the right to retain 30% of the per-level fee associated with the cancellation. This policy ensures that both the league and its participants are protected against unforeseen circumstances while maintaining fairness in financial transactions.     ROSTERED PERSONNEL
    Below is the maximum staff allowed on an Cheer Roster. Team Moms/Managers are not considered official, rostered staff only for the purpose of staff access at the BYSL Showcase/Showcase Competition.
    • One (1) Head Coach
    • Three (3) Assistant Coaches per level
    Only rostered Coaches will be able to accompany the team at events.
    (ALL COACHES SHOULD HAVE A CLEAR BAG TO ENTER EVENT, ALL BAGS WILL BE INSPECTED BY SECURITY!!!!

     

    HEAD COACHES
    Head coaches are in complete charge during showcases and showcase competitions. They are responsible for their own actions or inactions, their assistants’ coaches actions or inactions and the actions of their participants.

    AGES OF PARTICIPANTS
    Minimum age of all participants is four (4) years old by July 1st of the current year. Maximum age of all participants is 16 years old by July 1st of the current year. There are no waivers allowed for participants outside this range. For determining the participant’s age (Protected Age), the term “on or before” and the term “as of” is intended to have the same definition (Age Cutoff Date). An age cutoff date of (on or before as of) July 1st of the current season is as follows: 16 years old on July 1st, turns.

    ROSTERS
    Below is the required paperwork order for each participating Organization. Please keep in mind, this is the book order for cheer and dance only. All BYSL CHEER AND DANCE TEAMS must follow this protocol. Listed below is the order that all participant paperwork should be filed in the book. All required paperwork for each participate has to be given to BYSL at time of certification: Participants should be filed in birth date order YOUNGEST TO OLDEST.


    ● Team Roster (FOR EXAMPLE: NSID, ZORTS)-
    Roster must include photo of participant


    ● Emergency Consent Form (attached to confirmation email for print)


    ● Image Release Waiver (attached to confirmation email for print)


    ● Waiver and Release of Liability Waiver (attached to confirmation email for print)

    UNIFORMS
    Midriffs and/or sheer/nude color uniforms are prohibited. All participants should have proper coverage not exposing any midriff areas. Sheer or nude panels may be used on SMALL areas of the uniform such as the shoulders or arms while NOT exposing any inappropriate areas that should be properly covered.

    NO JEWLERY ALLOWED! (RINGS, EARRINGS, NECKLACES, ETC.)

    COMPETITION ATTIRE
    Attire will be a performance tank or t-shirt and shorts with briefs underneath. No sports bras or midriff tanks exposing the stomach may be worn for performance. If your team chooses to perform in a tank, make sure each participant is properly covered for family viewing. Cheerleader or Dancer are allowed to have backpacks, those bags will be expected by security.


    SHOES
    All shoes must be secure. Shoes worn for dance are NOT permitted to have taps.
    ● Participants with a hard cast may not tumble, stunt, or be considered as spotters and are not required to wrap/pad the cast. Participants wearing hard braces with exposed metal material, such as knee, wrist and elbow braces, are required to wrap/cover the brace with a padded material so that it protects both them and their fellow participants from injury. Participants wearing a full (medical) boot brace/walking boot may not be involved in stunting or tumbling.
    ● Glasses may be worn but must be secure. If they fall off, they must be quickly retrieved. A sport strap for all participants wearing eyeglasses is highly recommended.


    UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR
    A team whose administrators, coaches, participants, and/or spectators are displaying unsportsmanlike conduct before or during an event may be subject to a 5-point deduction.

    MUSIC GUIDELINES
    Music must be submitted to DJ before performances: Music on JUMP DRIVE or
    Emailed to: TBA
    ● There cannot be a “bleep” over an inappropriate lyric.
    ● Lyrics cannot lead up to an inappropriate word which then has a voiceover on the inappropriate word or cuts off right at the inappropriate word.
    ● Music legalities cannot be based on “meaning of the song”, although specific lyrics should be appropriate for family listening. i.e. avoid lyrics in regards to drugs, sex, drinking, etc.
    ● When there is a music malfunction during a performance that is not the result of the coach or team representative error, the team may be offered the option to perform again. It will be up to the competition officials if the team will perform again and from what starting point.

    SCORING

    IN CASE OF A TIE FOR CHEER or DANCE

    Both teams will perform again and rescored. 


    ROUTINE INTERRUPTION DUE TO INJURY
    In case of an injury, the competition officials, event medical personnel, a coach of the performing team, or one of the judges can stop the performance. It is up to the competition officials if the team will perform again and from what starting point. Any injury where there is blood present must be stopped and the injured participant must not return until the bleeding has stopped, the wound is covered, and uniform appropriately cleaned or changed.


    INJURED PARTICIPANT RETURNING TO COMPETITION
    An injured participant must not return to the performance.


    REASONS FOR DISQUALIFICATION
    Teams with illegal competitor(s) will be disqualified. Reasons for disqualification include, but are not limited to, over age competitor(s), competitor(s) not listed on the official BYSL roster, and/or illegal competitor(s) listed on official BYSL roster. If a team is found with unregistered competitors, the team will be disqualified. Teams registering and performing in incorrect divisions and/or categories will be disqualified. Coaches and Coordinators are responsible to comprehend and comply with all BYSL Age Division Requirements, BYSL General Safety Rules, YCADA Safety Rules, and Routine Guidelines pertaining to the competing division.
