Submission Guidelines
Artists are invited to submit 1 to 6 works for Flow State, a juried group exhibition. Hungarian-American psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi describes flow as “A state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter.” Aplomb Gallery is seeking submissions from artists who have created work in a flow state of creativity.
In alignment with the mission of The Aplomb Project, submissions may reflect themes of healing, resilience, identity, transformation, grief, hope, strength, or personal perspective. All interpretations and mediums are welcome.
This is a juried group exhibition, juried by Marisa Companion.
Marisa Companion is an artist and educator who earned an MFA from California Institute of the Arts (2011). Marisa’s work has been featured at Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, MA, and Art Basel, Miami.
Two-dimensional work must be securely ready to hang, either framed or gallery wrapped with painted sides and wired or equipped with hooks compatible with our hanging system. Three dimensional work in all mediums will be considered. Multimedia works are also accepted.
Aplomb Contemporary Gallery is located in Dover, New Hampshire. Artists from any geographic location may apply. Selected artists are responsible for shipping or delivering work in person by November 3rd. Shipped work must include a prepaid return label, or artists may arrange to pick up work after the exhibition concludes.
Exhibition entry is non-refundable and supports the mission of The Aplomb Project, which provides expressive arts programming for individuals impacted by trauma, illness, and life transitions. If the entry fee is a financial barrier to applying, please email danielle@theaplombproject.org. Artists will retain 60 percent of all sales. The Aplomb Project retains a 40 percent commission and absorbs initial transaction processing fees.
