🏝 What: A joyful weekend of queer nature liberation through ocean recreation. Queer Sea Camp deepens our relationships to the ocean, nature, and community 🐬
🗓 Date: Thursday September 17th, 9am - Sunday September 20th @ 4:30pm, 2026
🔻 Who: Queer nature and ocean lovers, ocean aligned and ocean curious. Non-binary/trans centered. All queer adults 21 and up welcome! No previous ocean experience needed. 122 people total.
📍LOCATION: Two Harbors Campground, West End of Catalina Island, Los Angeles County. This trip is not to Avalon, the main town on Catalina. Instead it is on the more secluded, rustic part of the island. We have the two large group camp sites and a handful of individual sites. Choose your campsite below.
🛥 Transportation: Catalina Express Charter Boat departing from San Pedro Terminal to Two Harbors. From the boat terminal it is a 0.3 mile walk on a dirt road and path to the campground. There is some elevation gain getting to the campground, and a fairly steep walk down to the campsites. 2 pieces of luggage/gear are driven in a truck to the campground, and additional luggage haul may be purchased for $10 per bag/item. Participants must walk to the campground.
🐠 Activities: Snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, hiking, nature walks, beach time, workshops, yoga, campfires, dance party, variety show, cruising;)
This is not a surf trip and instead an ocean recreation sea camp. Participants can sign up for 1 kayak and 1 snorkel tour below, which includes gear. If possible we highly encourage you to bring your own snorkel gear so you can snorkel outside of your structured time. Shared wetsuits will be wet (but clean!) so we encourage you to bring your own wetsuit if possible. Snorkel gear and kayaks can also be rented at the Two Harbors Dive Shop on the island. Lifeguards will be on duty 9am-5pm in the cove.
🥑 Food: We will provide dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Participants are responsible for their own breakfast and lunch. There is a cafe, restaurant and small store in Two Harbors, a 10 minute walk from the campground. Coolers and camp cooking equipment are allowed on the charter boat. Gas for stoves is not allowed on the boat and must be bought at the camp store.
🏕 ACCOMODATIONS: Group camping on the beach and bluff overlooking the ocean. Participants must bring their own tent, sleeping pad and sleeping bag. If you do not have all of your own gear, we will have a gear share sheet to help you try to crowd source everything you need.
🚿 Facilities- Chemical toilets, running water and cold showers at the campground. Coin operated warm showers and flushing toilets in town, a ~ 12 minute walk away.
💲 Cost: Sliding scale $500-$2000. This cost includes the charter boat, camground accommodations, 3 meals, gear hauling to camp, shared snorkel and kayak gear and instruction, as well as other programming. Payment plans available.

✖️ Cancelation Policy: Cancel before August 1st for a full refund, minus $40 processing. After August 1st, a refund is only given if your spot is filled.

🦠 Covid-19 Policy and Protocol: All participants must show proof of a negative covid test within 24 hours of boat departure. Screening will be done at the boat terminal. Any participant who tests positive for COVID-19, or has symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection cannot attend camp. Masks strongly recommended when inside the boat (there is limited outdoor space available on the boat). We support masking outdoors also, and any precautions that help you feel safe. Rapid tests will be available to participants throughout the weekend.
