“…[F]or I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty
and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and
you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and
you visited me.” —
Matthew 25:35-36
St. Martin’s welcomes the gifted iconographer, Teresa Harrison, for our annual Lenten Icon Writing Retreat. This year’s retreat is especially meaningful as participants will write an icon of our patron saint, St. Martin of Tours, sharing his cloak with a beggar — a powerful image of Christ’s call to compassion. No artistic or painting skills are required, just a prayerful heart and presence!
The five-day retreat includes daily Eucharist, prayer, times of silence, lively conversation, free time, and social time. Icons will be painted “written” in a special acrylic paint that resembles traditional egg tempera and gilded with 23.5-carat gold leaf. The cost of all art supplies, refreshments, and lunch daily at Café St Martin are included in the non-refundable $495 registration fee. Students need to bring a small desk lamp and an apron or smock.
Space is limited.
Cancellations after Jan.1 may not be refunded if the space cannot be filled.
