Nutcracker eligibility requirements to audition:

Ballet 1a and higher

1 year of ballet

Age 7 +

Required attire for audtion:

Pink or skin tone tights. Tights and shoe color must match. You may wear skin tone tights with skin tone shoes or pink tights with pink shoes.

Black Leotard (No Skirts)
Please bring Pointe shoes and your flats
Hair in a Bun
No Jewelry
Audition application deadline:

Monday, September 7, 2026

Any audition application submitted after the above date will incur a $10 late fee in addition to the standard $20 audition fee.

Nutcracker rehearsals may be held on Fridays from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., some Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals will not conflict with other Metropolitan commitments. Performers must be available for all rehearsals for their role(s), tech/dress rehearsals, and performances.

I understand that this production is a commitment of my time, talent and energy. I understand that if I am unable to attend rehearsals and performances that I may not be cast for the production. Furthermore, if I am cast and do not attend rehearsals, I may forfeit my role to an understudy.

FEES: Nutcracker Audition Fees are $20 before September 7, 2026, and $30 per student thereafter. The audition fee is nonrefundable.

If you are cast in the production, a participation fee and a costume cleaning fee will be charged to your account on file on September 15, 2026.

Participation and Costume Fee
- $250 per student
- $35 cleaning fee for each loaned costume
PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT: All costumes used are the property of the Metropolitan School of the Arts and will be transported to and from the theater by staff. We rely heavily on parent volunteers to help with the production of The Nutcracker. The production manager will be in touch to help manage and coordinate production needs.
I agree to have the above participation and costume fees applied to my Metropolitan School of the Arts account upon acceptance of any role(s) offered to me. I agree to provide payment in the form of cash, check or a valid credit card for these charges should the card on file be denied.
