Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that participating in a cycling event involves inherent and significant risks, including but not limited to collisions with motor vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, fixed or moving objects, road hazards, weather conditions, equipment failure, negligent acts of other participants, and serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis, or death. I voluntarily choose to participate with full knowledge and acceptance of these risks, whether known or unknown.
I certify that I am physically capable of participating in this event and that my bicycle and equipment are in safe operating condition.
Release and Hold Harmless
In consideration for being permitted to participate, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns, hereby fully release, waive, discharge, covenant not to sue, indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Mobile Bay Riders Cycling Club, its officers, directors, members, volunteers, ride leaders, sponsors, event organizers, property owners, governmental agencies, affiliates, and all other persons or entities associated with this event ("Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, expenses, or attorney's fees arising out of or related to my participation in the event, including claims arising from the ordinary negligence of any Released Party, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
This release applies to claims involving personal injury, illness, property damage, disability, wrongful death, or any other loss arising before, during, or after the event.
Indemnification
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claim, liability, damage, loss, judgment, or expense, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising from my actions, omissions, misconduct, or violation of applicable laws while participating in the event.
Compliance with Traffic Laws
I agree to obey all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including all traffic laws and regulations of the States of Alabama and Mississippi, as applicable to the event route. I understand that I am solely responsible for operating my bicycle in a lawful and safe manner at all times, including obeying traffic control devices, signaling turns, yielding when required, and riding predictably.
I understand that failure to comply with applicable traffic laws or event rules may result in my immediate removal from the event without refund.
Equipment Requirements
I certify that:
My bicycle is in safe mechanical condition.
I will wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet at all times while riding.
I will use equipment appropriate for the event.
Three-wheeled bicycles, tricycles, recumbent tricycles, and other three-wheeled bicycles are not permitted to participate in this event. Event officials reserve the right to deny participation to any rider or equipment deemed unsafe or inconsistent with event requirements.
Medical Authorization
Should I become injured or incapacitated during the event, I authorize emergency medical treatment deemed necessary by emergency responders or licensed medical personnel. I understand that I am solely responsible for all medical costs incurred.
Photography and Media Release
I grant the Mobile Bay Riders Cycling Club and its designees permission to photograph, video record, or otherwise capture my likeness during the event and to use such images for promotional, educational, or informational purposes in any media without compensation.
Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Alabama. If any provision of this Agreement is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
