What happens when a group of young artists starts with nothing but their imaginations?
Sign up your child for the TEAM's Theatre Makers Camp, where participants ages 9-14 will spend five days creating an original piece of theater from scratch!
Co-led by award-winning theatremaker and founding TEAM artist Libby King and deviser-performer Hannah Kallenbach, campers will learn and utilize the same creative tools that professional theatremakers use to make original work—such as generative storytelling, improvisation, movement, world-building, creative play, character building, and ensemble collaboration.
Along the way, campers will build their confidence as makers, strengthen their communication skills, and generate a whole new world in collaboration with their peers.
New York Public Schools doesn't start until September 9th this year—so sign up your child for this one-of-a-kind experience, with costs lower than the average hourly cost of childcare!

SCHEDULE
- The first three days focus on generating material and discovering what excites the group.
- The fourth day is devoted to shaping their ideas into a shared piece.
- On the final day, family and friends are invited to experience a raw and fresh sharing of the work—a celebration of the creative process and everything the ensemble has made together.
- Campers will start their days at 9:30AM, taking a one-hour adult-supervised lunch at 12PM-1PM, and end their days at 3:30PM.
- Lunch will be not provided and we ask all campers to come with a packed lunch! However, we will have many snacks available (and can accommodate any dietary restrictions).
INSTRUCTOR BIOS
Libby King is a Brooklyn-based deviser who currently works as Director of Petri Projects, the TEAM's new works lab. With The TEAM, Libby has created and performed the role of Ann and Elvis in RoosevElvis, Catalina in Mission Drift, Carrie Campbell in Architecting, and Sarah Springer in Particularly in the Heartland (named Best Actress at the Dublin Fringe Festival), and more. Libby has performed all over the country, New York, and abroad (BAM, the Public, The Vineyard, PS122, CSC, Judson Church, St. Marks Church, The Barbican, The Almeida, the National, The Royal Lyceum, Lisbon, Coimbra, Salzburg, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Baton Rouge, Philly, Nashville). She has helped to develop projects with the National Theatre of Scotland, The Foundry, Clubbed Thumb, New George’s, Tectonic, Yale Rep, Soho Rep. Some favorites: The Laramie Project Cycle (directed by Moisés Kaufman and Leigh Fondakowski), 27 by Abi Morgan (dir. Vicky Featherstone), Death of a Salesman in collaboration with Siti Company directed by Leon Ingulsrud, and Astrov in Rachel Chavkin’s Uncle Vanya. She has taught at NYU, the New School, PACE, Sarah Lawrence, LSU, and Vanderbilt University.
Hannah Kallenbach is a Brooklyn-based actor and performance artist whose work takes many forms in various mediums, from durational site-specific installations to multi-media devised works to solo experimental theater shows. She has performed original pieces at venues such as Ars Nova, LaMama, Triskelion, JACK, Collapsable Hole, The Brick, Life World, The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, and Dixon Place. She has participated in festivals such as The Noorderzon Festival, Williamstown Theater Festival, Exponential Festival, Radical Acts Festival, The Prelude Festival, ?!:New Works, and SalOn!. Hannah runs a free monthly workshop for devising artists at Mercury Store. The workshop allows artists to experiment with portions of new works on their feet, bypassing “opening act” performances as the only way to gain audience feedback. BFA NYU.
COSTS
Affordable - $400
This option is for families with limited expendable income and concerns about basic needs & debt. In alignment with the TEAM's commitment to accessible arts education, this discounted rate ensures campers can participate regardless of socioeconomic status. It is roughly equivalent to $13/hr for child care.
True Cost - $500
This option is for families with expendable income, with basic needs met and some savings. It covers the true cost of the program—and is offered at an affordable rate roughly equivalent to $17/hr for child care!
Pay It Forward - $700
This option is for families with expendable income and/or access to familial resources and wealth, savings, and who are able to take regular vacations and cover beyond basic needs. This is equivalent to $20/hr for child care and allows you to cover the cost of your camper—while supporting another's family's young artist by paying it forward. It is roughly equivalent to $23/hr for child care!
