    • Dry Tooling Intro and Coaching Sessions
    • Intro to Tooling

This session is intended for complete beginners, and anyone who hasn't tooled at Masson before. It covers everything you needed to get started tooling. We'll look at safety, gear, and tooling-specific techniques, which will help you on the wall.
    • We recommend that all first-time dry-toolers start by attending this session before getting stuck in to climbing independently.

    • Beginner / Intermediate Coaching

Tried dry tooling and want to improve your skills? Masson expert Adam McCudden is here to help at one of Masson's most recently developed sectors (developed by him!). This session focuses on routes between D2 and D6.
    • You should have spent at least a day climbing on tools to get the most out of this session.

    • Intermediate / Advanced Coaching

Want to take your tooling to the next level? In this session GB Ice Climbing athlete and Masson expert Neil Blake helps hone your skills on his very own routes. This session focuses on routes from D5 to D8.
    • Participants should be familiar with tooling, and be looking to stretch themselves.

    • NDTC / Intro to Competition Climbing

Hosted by the Northern Dry Tooling Club, this session provides an introduction to climbing with tools on specially designed competition holds.
    • No previous experience on tools required.

    • Fig4 Coaching

Demystifying the dark art of Figure-4s and Figure-9s. Perfecting this gymnastic move can be the key to unlocking those no-foothold traverses and roofs. This session allows you to hone your technique on our purpose-built Fig4 trainer!
    • Steep Roof Coaching

Want to make the leap into the world of tooling steep roof routes? GB Ice Climbing athlete and Masson expert Neil Blake is here to help you move from the vertical into the overhanging. This session takes you from the Fig4 trainer to the crag's D10 testpiece: Sub Rosa.
    • Other Sessions
    • Training for Tooling

Petzl-sponsored climber Emma Powell knows what it takes to tool hard, and how to tailor her training to reach her goals in ice climbing, competition, or to succeed on the hardest dry tooling route in the UK. In this session she shares how to train for success in tooling. This session takes place on the main stage, not on the crag.
    • Make Your Own DIY Fruitboots

Hooked on tooling but can't afford a pair of Sportiva fruitboots? Bring your old rock shoes and turn them into DIY fruitboots, then go and try them out on the crag! The cost of this session includes 1 pair of Kuznia bolt-on crampons with stiffener bar for use on rock shoes or stiff boots such as cycle shoes plus the bolts to attach them to your shoes. We'll bring the drills and the crampons, you bring the shoes and the psych! So that we can order your bolt-on crampons, the deadline for booking a place in this session is 25th July. No additional places will be available after this date and it will not be possible to sign up "on the day".
