Hello, my name is Autumn Whitworth Elmore, and I am so excited to be teaching through Rooted Resource Center! With a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies; a Minor in Spanish; a Global Seal of Functional Fluency for Spanish; membership into the Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica de Sigma Delta Pi (Sigma Delta Pi Spanish National Honors Society), among several other academic achievements; and experience coaching softball, leading youth at the church I attend, and tutoring for multiple years, I feel God has truly prepared me to serve Him and His children in this way! Beyond my professional life, I am a wife to an amazing husband, a stay-at-home mom to our beautiful son, and a dog mama to our Newfoundland and mixed breed. Outside of teaching and ‘moming’, I enjoy singing at my home church, making and selling wreaths, playing board games, and trying new all-natural recipes to replace store-bought products, but most of all, I love spending time with my family!

10 years old - 18 years old 

A non-traditional art history class that blends uncommonly known art history with a craft of rising popularity! Let us dive into the origins of the wreath while also learning to craft several types of modern deco mesh wreaths! Upon gaining insight into this history and instruction on how to make wreath bases, students will have the opportunity to explore their creativity as they plan their designs and decorate their creations! While crafting, students will also be able to form relationships with one another in an environment that will encourage their faith, individuality, and collaboration! Students will find satisfaction in their work, have gained the skill to create wreaths on their own if they choose, and hopefully will have formed some new friendships. By the end of the course, they will have four handmade wreaths and some new, interesting knowledge to take with them. Please note that the teacher will provide all the base materials, but students will be expected to gather their own deco mesh and decoration; a detailed supply list will be provided.

Not required but if parents of young children are concerned about their use of hot glue, they may remain in class to assist.

Students will have four handmade wreaths, the skill to make wreaths on their own, and some new, interesting knowledge about the history of the wreath.

• Supply Fee: $20 (paid to instructor for the cost of supplies)

The instructor will provide a supply list in class for the specific type/recommended amount of Deco Mesh and decoration needed. Insctructor will provide all the base materials using the supply fee.

Light homework 

No parent participation is required. If parents of young children are concerded about their hot glue, they may remain in class to assist.
