        • Code of Conduct

          French as a Second Language (FSL) courses offered by the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) are designed to provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe, and respectful learning environment where everyone can learn and express themselves with confidence.

          By registering for a course, each student agrees to:

          • Contribute to creating a positive learning environment that fosters collaboration and mutual respect;
          • Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and openness toward fellow students, staff, instructors, and volunteers;
          • Respect the diversity of backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and French language proficiency levels of others;
          • Refrain from any form of harassment, bullying, discrimination, violence, or offensive language or behaviour;
          • Respect the Association franco-yukonnaise's facilities, equipment, and property. Any person responsible for damage caused intentionally or through negligence may be held responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement;
          • Help maintain a healthy environment. Smoking or vaping (tobacco or cannabis) is prohibited inside the building and within eight metres of the building, in accordance with applicable regulations;
          • Refrain from consuming or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on the Association franco-yukonnaise's premises.

          AFY reserves the right to intervene when a person's behavior disrupts the learning environment or affects the well-being of the group. Depending on the severity of the situation, measures ranging from a warning to dismissal from the course without a refund may be applied.

          Course Cancellation and Withdrawal

          Students who wish to withdraw from the French as a Second Language program must notify the FSL Program Coordinator by email to learnfrench@afy.ca.

          The following conditions apply:

          • Course cancellation before the start of classes: 90% of the registration fee will be refunded.
          • Withdrawal before the beginning of the third week of classes: 80% of the registration fee will be refunded.
          • Withdrawal on or after the third week of classes: No refund will be issued.

          To help ensure fair access to courses, students who miss the first two classes without notifying the Program Coordinator or their instructor will forfeit their place. Their spot may be offered to a person on the waiting list.

          Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis in exceptional circumstances with appropriate justification.
