2026 Cooking Up Culture Registration
  • 2026 Cooking Up Culture Registration

Cooking Up Culture is a series of fun, demonstration style classes hosted by Healthy Harvest of North Iowa, Central Gardens, and the Clear Lake Arts Center. On the third Wednesday of each month, we've invited a guest chef to share a favorite recipe from their heritage and tell stories about their culture. Attend 1 class or all 4 (dates and descriptions are below). Limit of 20 per class so sign up today!
  • Fresh, Local Ingredients featuring North Iowa Local Food Farms
The best part of this program is the food! We focus on using ingredients grown right here in North Iowa:

From the Garden: Many recipes feature vegetables and herbs picked directly from Central Gardens.
From Local Farms: We partner with North Iowa farmers (listed on the HHNI website and local food guide) to source fresh meat,  produce, herbs and more.
Taste the Difference: You’ll learn how to cook with seasonal, local ingredients that make every dish taste better.

What to Expect: Watch the chef cook, learn their secrets, and enjoy a full tasting of the dish.

Take it Home: We’ll give you a printed recipe card and a Local Food Guide so you can easily recreate the dish at home using fresh, local ingredients.

Drinks & Connection: We provide beer and wine (for a small donation) to enjoy while you socialize.

For Everyone: These classes are for adults and kids ages 10 and up
