This event has Virginia Residence requirements for players in the Championship and Amateur Sections--you ust meet at least one of the criteria below to participate: 1) Current resident of Virginia as defined by the Commonwealth of Virginia; 2) Active duty military stationed in Virginia; 3) Attend school in Virginia (e.g. you are from Florida and curently attend Hampton University as a resident student); 4) Virginia resident attending school out-of-state (e.g. attending Univ. of Michigan, but family lives in VA). These residency conditions do not apply to players in the Novice Section.

Players rated below 1800 in the September 2026 US Chess Rating Supplement must pay a $25 Premium to play in the Championship Section unless they have a post-tournament rating of at least 1800 in their US Chess player record in since September 2024).
The tournament has 3 Sections: Championship, Amateur (Under 1800), and Novice (Under 1200).
The Championship and Amateur Sections have 2 Schedule Options from which to choose--the Long Schedule or the Short Schedule. These 2 sections have Virginia Residency requirements.
The Amateur Section is a 2-day event on Saturday and Sunday only. This section is open to ANY PLAYER from any state.
We have enough chess sets for all players, but you are allowed to use your own equipment. PLEASE BRING A DELAY-CAPABLE CHESS CLOCK. We have a limited supply of clocks to loan, so please bring your own clock.
