In the Theravada Buddhist tradition, support for the Teacher and the Teachings is considered an opportunity to engage with the foundational practice of 'Dana' (generosity). Please offer what feels generous from your own situation: those of greater means subsidize participation of those with lesser means in the true spirit of a community coming together to support the continuationand availability of the teachings and practices.

Retreat Practice in the Insight Tradition is done with the supporting condition of 'Noble Silence'. Noble silence involves renunciation of verbal and non-verbal communication for the duration of the practice period to support the retreat 'container' for self and others, and turning attention inward (aside from communicating with the teacher during Q&A or to receive support). This includes the use phones or electronics, as well as the display of political symbols or language in the retreat space.
