The Pittsburgh Omega Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour is a transformative program coordinated by the Iota Phi Foundation in partnership with the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. This annual tour provides 11th-grade students from the Greater Pittsburgh Area with the opportunity to explore Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across several states. While the specific locations for the upcoming tour have not been finalized, our previous tours have included visits to esteemed HBCUs and culturally significant attractions in states including but not limited to Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
Students in our program will engage in a variety of enriching activities, such as:
- Campus Tours: Guided tours of HBCU campuses to experience the environment and facilities.
- Informational Sessions: Meetings with admissions representatives to learn about academic programs, scholarships, and application processes.
- Networking Opportunities: Interactions with faculty, administrators, college students, alumni, and professionals for mentorship and guidance.
- Scholarship Opportunities: Access to information about scholarships available at the visited institutions.
- Cultural Enrichment: Visits to culturally significant landmarks and participation in events that highlight African American history and contributions.
- Internships and Job Opportunities: Connections to potential summer internships and job opportunities.
This week-long tour, scheduled from March 20, 2027 - March 27, 2027, is more than just an excursion; it is a chance for students to gain valuable insights into higher education, develop lifelong connections, and be inspired to pursue their educational and personal goals.
