  • The Pittsburgh Omega Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour is a transformative program coordinated by the Iota Phi Foundation in partnership with the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. This annual tour provides 11th-grade students from the Greater Pittsburgh Area with the opportunity to explore Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across several states. While the specific locations for the upcoming tour have not been finalized, our previous tours have included visits to esteemed HBCUs and culturally significant attractions in states including but not limited to Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Students in our program will engage in a variety of enriching activities, such as:

    • Campus Tours: Guided tours of HBCU campuses to experience the environment and facilities.
    • Informational Sessions: Meetings with admissions representatives to learn about academic programs, scholarships, and application processes.
    • Networking Opportunities: Interactions with faculty, administrators, college students, alumni, and professionals for mentorship and guidance.
    • Scholarship Opportunities: Access to information about scholarships available at the visited institutions.
    • Cultural Enrichment: Visits to culturally significant landmarks and participation in events that highlight African American history and contributions.
    • Internships and Job Opportunities: Connections to potential summer internships and job opportunities.

This week-long tour, scheduled from March 20, 2027 - March 27, 2027, is more than just an excursion; it is a chance for students to gain valuable insights into higher education, develop lifelong connections, and be inspired to pursue their educational and personal goals. • APPLICATION DETAILS

  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Please submit a complete, high-quality, and accurate application to be considered for the competitive Pittsburgh Omega Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour. A nonrefundable $20 application/administration fee is required for submission. You will be prompted for payment before finalizing your application. Please ensure that the applicant is in the Class of 2028 and will be in the 11th grade at the time of the tour (Spring 2027). Early submission is strongly recommended.

The following items are required to submit the application:

    • Student Headshot: A high-quality student headshot must be uploaded (chest up with a plain background; no selfies). Professional attire is encouraged.
    • Transcripts: A transcript or report card that lists your name, school, and overall GPA. Note: You may submit your most recent report card initially. However, you will be required to log in later to submit a final transcript that includes both 9th and 10th-grade marks. Do not wait until you get your final report card for the 10th grade (it will be too late).
    • References: Please list the contact information for two references: one school staff member and one community leader/coach/mentor. No letters are needed —just names and email addresses.

  • Important: Interview Scheduling Policy – Please Read Before Selecting Your Time Slot

  • As part of the Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour application process, you are required to schedule an interview. To provide a fair and professional experience for all 300 applicants, please carefully review the following policy before selecting your slot:

Interview Tiers: We offer two windows for interviews. Priority Interviews (June 25th & 27th) are designated for early applicants. Final Round Interviews (July 9th & 11th) are the last available dates. Please choose the window that best ensures your attendance. The address is 1423 Liverpool Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

    Commitment to Your Slot:
Due to the high number of applicants and the competitive nature of the program, you must commit to the date and time you select. Rescheduling is not guaranteed. Failure to attend your scheduled interview may result in immediate removal from the applicant pool.

    Emergency Contact:
We have limited resources to accommodate rescheduling. If an unavoidable emergency arises, you may contact pghomegahbcutour@gmail.com with "Interview"  in the subject line, but please understand that alternative slots may not be available.

Punctuality: Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled interview time for check-in. Late arrivals disrupt the schedule for other families and may negatively impact your interview score.

    Dress Code (Business Casual Required):
Your appearance reflects your commitment to this opportunity. Applicants must wear professional, business casual attire (e.g., collared shirts, blouses, dress pants, skirts, or slacks). No jeans, slides, Crocs, or t-shirts. Please do not wear athletic or extremely casual attire.

By selecting an interview slot below, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to this participation policy.
