  • Bird Time on The Coast: May 30, 2026 Registration Form

  • Date: May 30 (Saturday)

    Location: Weskeag Marsh

    Time: 7 am – 9 am

    Trip Leader: Don & Eddy

Join us at Weskeag Marsh (“The Marsh”) for an excellent morning of shorebird, waterfowl, egret, and heron watching! Come see how many of our spring migrants have returned to the marsh and woods and watch what the incoming tide pushes into the marsh. Weskeag Marsh is a State of Maine wildlife management area. Spotting scopes will be provided for all to get excellent views. Wear boots and we will take a trek into the woods to go to the back viewing platform for a different angle on the marsh. Park and meet at the designated parking lot on Buttermilk Lane in Thomaston.

  • The Friends of Maine Coastal Islands (FOMCI) National Wildlife Refuge are proud to sponsor the bird watching series “Bird Time on the Coast.” This series includes local bird experts who are knowledgeable about birds in our area who lead trips to some of their favorite birding hotspots along the coast of Maine. Bird Time on the Coast is open to all birdwatching abilities from beginners to advanced. Bring your binoculars or let us know ahead of time and we will provide them for you. Waterproof footwear and insect repellent are strongly encouraged. The trips are limited in number, so please sign up early.

Help us keep our programs running with a suggested donation of $10 for this bird tour.  If you are attending multiple walks, you can make a one-time donation of your choosing from the dropdown menu, and on subsequent walks, choose "0" since you have already made a donation. Donations go directly to supporting our seabird island interns and educational programs at the Maine Coastal Islands NWR Visitor Center!  We thank our bird leaders for volunteering their time so we can fully support our favorite wildlife refuge!
