  • The Nashville Jazz Workshop's Summer Jazz Camp 2026 takes place at Montgomery Bell Academy's beautiful facilities in Nashville, where expert faculty deliver specialized instruction and ensemble experience built to meet our community’s needs. Thanks to feedback from hundreds of students and directors across Middle Tennessee, this camp takes an intensive focus on improvisation — for students at every level. We know how hard it is to carve out time for this kind of study during the school year, and this is your chance for deep, focused learning in the foundational tools of the jazz vocabulary.

    Every level has a home here — come as you are and leave playing better.

  • What You'll Learn

    This camp is built around giving students the real tools they need to play jazz well. Students will learn valuable concepts and practice bringing them to life in an ensemble setting.
     
    🎵 Music Theory for Jazz
    Practical harmony and theory connected directly to your instrument and the music you're playing. 

    🎙️ Improvisation & Ear Training
    Learn to play what you hear. The core of the camp — finding your voice and learning to express it. 
     🎷 Instrument Masterclasses
    Small-group sessions with specialists on every instrument, focused on technique and jazz vocabulary.

    🎶 Playing Together
    Ensemble playing, listening, and the art of musical conversation — the heart of jazz.

  • Recordings help us place you in the right group but they are not required to register. If you'd like, upload an audio or video recording of one of the following options:

     

    1) Record yourself singing or playing 2 choruses of a blues in F, OR 2 choruses on rhythm changes in Bb. 

    2) Record yourself performing a jazz standard of your choice.

     

    Feel free to submit both options if you prefer! Phone recordings are completely fine.

    Nashville Jazz Workshop may photograph or film camp activities for use in grant reporting and promotional materials.

  • Meals

    The Montgomery Bell Academy cafeteria will provide student lunches for a fee of $6.00 per meal. Students are welcome to bring their own lunches as well.

  • TUITION FEE

  • We are happy to accept your payment with your camper's registration via the secure Stripe checkout form below.

    However, if you have additional questions prior to making payment, or wish to discuss financial assistance, please submit this registration form without payment and reach out to us at "camp@nashvillejazz.org". Limited scholarships are available.

    Payment in full will required by May 15th, 2026 in order to guarantee your student's place at camp.
