  • DWI EDUCATION PROGRAM POLICIES

  •  

    1. The course consists of three 4-hour sessions which equals a total of 12 hours.

    2. The sessions are held Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    3. Sessions will start on time. Please plan to arrive or login 10-15 minutes early. LATE PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE CLASS.

    4. The cost for the course is $100.00 if the DWI was received in Texas and $110.00 if the DWI was received out of state.

    5. Each participant must complete all three sessions consecutively. If a participant misses a session, they will be a.) Required to pay the reassignment fee of $65.00 and b.) Required to start the course over during the next scheduled class.

    6. REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

    7. All paperwork must be completed, and the fee must be PAID IN FULL before you are registered for the course.

    8. A COPY OF THE PARTICIPANT'S PHOTO ID WILL BE REQUIRED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION; if an individual does not have a PHOTO ID, office staff will acquire a photo of the participant. (All copies are for identification purposes only and will be kept confidential.)

    9. At the completion of the course, your probation office, the appropriate county court, and DPS will be notified in writing of your completion. Each participant will also be given a certificate after successfully completing the course. If the certificate is lost, the participant must purchase a new certificate for $10.00.         

    10. Participants must complete all assignments and turn them in to the instructor.     

    11. Abilene Recovery Council, Inc. is not responsible for the SR-22 form. lf you need this form, please contact your insurance company.

    12. Participants who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to attend class and will be responsible for the reassignment fee of $100.00 or $110.00.

    13. The instructor reserves the right to eject anyone from the class due to disorderly behavior. The participant may not return to class until cleared by the instructor and will be responsible for the reassignment fee of $100.00 or $110.00.

    14. Smoking, vaping, or using smokeless tobacco is not allowed in the building or on camera during class. Use of tobacco products or vaping during breaks is permitted off camera or in designated areas outside of the building 20 feet from any entrance, window or ventilation system.

    15. Children and relatives are not permitted in the class unless cleared with the instructor.

    16. It is the participant's responsibility to complete the course before the time limit set by the Court.

     17. Participants with an NDP score of 6 or 7 will be scheduled for an exit interview.

  • REMOTE LEARNING POLICIES

  • 1) You MUST participate from a private, well-lit room, free of all distractions (do not drive, cook, or complete other household chores during class). No one else can be present in the room (including children). You cannot be the primary caregiver for children during this class. If you have children, you will need to get a babysitter just like you would if you were attending this class in person.

    2) You must have a functioning webcam and microphone. Your face must be completely visible at all times while class is in session. Do not participate from a dark room. Lighting must be sufficient for your face to be clearly visible on the screen.

    3) Make sure your internet connection is functioning and fast enough to support video streaming.

    4) You must be fully clothed at all times. Please remember that other participants will be able to see you.

    5) Do not sleep during class. If you do, you will be required to pay another registration fee and take the class again.

    6) Please actively participate in the discussions. The instructor will give online participants the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.

    7) You cannot be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during class. Use of tobacco and electronic nicotine delivery devices is also prohibited while class is in session.

    8) If you do not adhere to these policies at all times, you will be removed from class and required to pay the registration fee in full again and take the class at a later date.

No such surveillance is conducted in counselors'/peer recovery coaches' offices or anywhere where protected health information (PHI) may be shared. Access to surveillance video is restricted to authorized Council staff, and client/participant confidentiality will be protected at all times according to state and federal regulations.
