EVENTS SPACE; TERMS, RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Kosher and Food Regulations
A. All events on the CONF campus must be catered by an approved caterer and overseen by an AKC-certified Mashgiach (to be hired by the caterer). Mashgiach must be present from the time the food/ ingredients are dropped off until the food is packed up and the kitchen is locked.
B. All ingredients brought into the shul must be approved before being used in the kitchen or served at an event. This includes edible décor items, even if they are just for show.
C. All items brought in for food preparation must adhere to the following Kashrus standards: Pas Yisroel, Bishul Yisroel, Cholov Yisroel, and Mevushal.
1. All cooked items must be Bishul Yisroel
2. All baked items must be Pas Yisroel
3. All dairy items must be Cholov Yisroel
4. All wine must be Mevushal
5. All meat must be approved with one of the CONF Rabbis before purchase
D. Each item must be unopened and in its original wrapping until it has been checked by the Mashgiach or one of the CONF Rabbis.
E. When hosting a Shabbat kiddush lunch at CONF, please adjust your guest count to include the 75 adults and 25 children who regularly attend our services.
F. CONF does not currently offer our own catering service. Any catering done in our kitchen is through outside caterers, and they require a Mashgiach and certification to verify the Kosher status of the food.
2. Facility Rental Fees and Renter Obligations.
A. Facility rentals include the setup and layout of tables and chairs as requested in the Layout Design form. The event host is responsible for covering and setting of tables, room décor, and the cleanup of all rented rooms. The Layout Design form must be submitted at least 2 weeks before your event.
B. The Layout Design form includes an inventory of our tables and chairs. Any required tables and chairs in excess of our inventory will need to be brought in by the host at their expense.
C. CONF takes no responsibility for our inventory. If any of our tables and chairs become unavailable, the host will need to provide them at their expense.
D. The event host may elect to provide an armed security guard for their event. CONF can assist with hiring the guards at a cost of $40 per hour, with a minimum of 4 hours. Police officers are available for $65 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours.
E. Payment of Fees: A deposit totaling half the room rental fee must be paid at the time of booking the date. The remainder of the rental fee, as well as any additional fees (security, etc.) will be due 7 days prior to your event.
F. We have a limited amount of linens and décor items for rent for private events. Please check with the office manager for current availabilities.
G. All outside orders for delivery of event items, e.g., table cloths, tables, chairs, etc., must be billed to the event host’s name and address, and are the renter’s responsibility. The CONF office is not responsible for private packages or orders delivered to the campus, or for personal items that are lost or damaged on campus.
H. There is no social hall fee for a Shabbat day Kiddush that is being sponsored for the community. In addition, our regular Shabbat security guard will not be charged unless there are more than 300 attendees in total, which will require additional guards.
3. Other rooms
A. The Library, Daily Shul, Classrooms, and other spaces are off limits during private events. Any extra space needed for children, babysitting, etc., can be rented for an extra fee.
B. Other than the ballroom, no food is allowed to be brought into any of the carpeted rooms, including the sanctuary, library and offices.
4. Entertainment and machinery
CONF staff should be consulted before any kind of entertainment is hired for an event, or machinery is rented and brought onto the premises.
5. Decorations
A. Decorations are only allowed in the Social Hall.
B. No decorations at all are permitted in the synagogue.
C. Decorations that need to be hung can only be done with string or the type of removable tape that does not peel the paint or damage the walls (painter's tape). Please do not use strong adhesives.
D. Confetti that is small and easy to vacuum is permitted except for anything with glitter.
E. Confetti may not be used at Friday night events
F. Please ensure that anything being hung up in the building is appropriate for a Shul campus. When in doubt, please do not hesitate to ask!
G. All décor, linens, and trash must be removed from the facility immediately after the event.
H. If some items need to be picked up the next day, we can store them for a maximum of 24 hours (however, the event room itself will need to be cleared out immediately after the event).
I. Do not depend on the office for any items at all (i.e., tape, scissors, pens, etc.)
J. We can set the color of the “wall washer’ lights to a color of your choice.
6. Photography
A. Event hosts may hire a photographer to take pictures of the family, the setup, and decorations, etc.
B. All photo equipment must be completely put away before Mincha begins on Friday; no photography is allowed from Friday Mincha until Shabbat ends.
C. Please inform the office what time you will be taking photos on the grounds so someone can arrange to let you into the building.
D. Photographs involving our Torahs must be supervised by one of the CONF Rabbis. If you’d like to arrange such photos, or for any related inquiries, please speak to one of the Rabbis directly.
7. Damages
A. Host will be held financially responsible for any damage incurred to hall, building and/or equipment and utensils in the course of the event.
8. Halachic Observances
A. Shabbat events: All events held on campus must adhere to the laws of Shabbos, including, but not limited to, laws related to food preparation, programming, and entertainment.
The Shul Rabbis are happy to answer questions and address concerns; please do not hesitate to ask! Please note: food, centerpieces, flowers, or anything else may not be delivered to or removed from the facility on Shabbos.
B. Saturday night events: Saturday night events must begin at least 30 minutes after the conclusion of Shabbos.
Any set-up, preparation, or arrival of caterer and event items/supplies/etc. at CONF premises may not occur until after the Shabbos conclusion. This time varies weekly; please consult with one of the Rabbis.
C. Dancing: CONF adheres to the halachic standard of gender-separated dancing.
