Thursday May 7th / 6-8:30pm | Hartson Gallery (upstairs)
Newburyport Art
65 Water St
Newburyport, MA 01950
Students will work with the three primary colors plus white in acrylic paint to understand and learn about color theory. The basics of how colors and paint interact on the substrate, as well as its application to real life will be included. Still life painting will be used to apply what students have learned from the course into their own artwork. Color schemes, how colors react to each other, and how colors evoke emotions will be taught. Students will walk away with a better understanding of how to mix paint colors, what is in their paint, find colors in real life, and how to create a cohesive color palette. This class is designed to be beginner friendly, and welcome to all types of artists.
The session will take place in the second-floor Hartson Gallery at 65 Water St, Newburyport, MA 01950. Please note that this workshop space is accessible only by stairs. If you anticipate this being a problem for you, please email us at naa@newburyportart.org.

Jessica Murr Bio
Jessica Murr is a painter and printmaker from Mount Olive, New Jersey. Jess has been creating and collaborating since an early age. She recently completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Savannah College of Art and Design. Post graduation, she continues her creative processes of extracting colors, passions, and sentiments from her fond memories and experiences in Northern Massachusetts. Jess’s motivations stem from the most important bonds and relations in her life, which are revealed in the imagery of her current work. Through passionate colors and comforting imagery, she hopes her audience can have the opportunity to encourage self reflection and rediscovery of the sisterlike bonds in one's own life.
