• ERMS Field Visit to Coleman's Quarry. Saturday 16th May 2026

ERMS Field Visit to Coleman's Quarry. Saturday 16th May 2026

  • Another chance to visit Coleman's Farm Quarry. The Kesgrave Thames river gravels contain boulders and pebbles from as far away as North Wales and S W England, and Hertfordshire Puddingstone.

Mammoth remains, Palaeolithic tools and a variety of derived fossils have been found. Ice age geology is visible and we will get a chance to find our own specimens on the reject pile.

The owner will also show us the latest collection of artefacts he has found.

Coleman's is a working quarry - no under 18s permitted. Helmets, boots and high visibility jacket or tabard are required. Maximum number of persons 25.

Bulls Lodge, Highwood and Colemans quarries all complement each other as visits.

    Organiser: Jonathan Spencer
