    Program Intention and Agenda:
    This retreat is centered on the theme of suhba — the tradition of meaningful companionship between students and teachers. Through shared sessions, communal meals, and structured discussion, participants will have the opportunity to:

    • Develop lasting connections with fellow students and teachers 
    • Engage directly with our community of teachers
    • Gain a deeper understanding of suhba as both a concept and a lived practice

    Inshallah the retreat will open with Jummah prayer on Friday, April 17th, and conclude with Dhuhr prayer on Sunday, April 19th. Each day will include:

    • Lecture-format sessions and breakout discussions in the Cultural Center auditorium
    • Morning and evening gatherings for remembrance, reflection, and Q&A
    • Communal prayers in the Mosque


    Meals:

    Four on-site communal meals are included in registration:

    Friday dinner
    Saturday breakfast and dinner 
    Sunday breakfast. 

    All attendees are invited to join. A midday break for independent lunch and rest is included in Saturday’s schedule. 

     


    Accommodations: 

    A limited number of rooms available on site at DCA are now filled. Nearby accomodation, with a reduced grouprate is also arranged at the Staybridge Suites in Lanham, MD, a few minutes driving distance from DCA. Use code SAB at this link to reserve rooms. 

     

    Children’s Program:

    A formal children’s program for children ages 2 to 12 will be available in parallel to the lecture schedule. It will be located in the Cultural Center Library, upstairs from the lecture auditorium. Child care for children under the age of 2 years, please send a direct inquiry to info@sabeelcommunity.org

     

    Day Pass: 

    An option to attend the retreat for select days is available. See below for registration. Each day pass is inclusive of all programming that day including communal meals.
