Event Description
The world is experiencing widespread and persistent conflict, with an estimated one in seven people globally living with the threat of armed violence. In 2025, more than 117 million people were displaced from their homes due to conflict, violence, and persecution — including tens of thousands who have rebuilt their lives here in the Puget Sound region. Overlapping challenges — climate change, food insecurity, and economic fragility — are increasing humanitarian needs at a time when the sector faces a significant funding shortfall.
How are humanitarian organizations adapting to this rapidly evolving landscape, from frontline emergency response to resettlement programs in communities like Seattle? What does it look like to deliver aid efficiently at global scale while also navigating the on-the-ground realities of integration and support closer to home? And what role can innovation and emerging technologies — including digital cash assistance, data analytics, AI-supported needs assessments, and climate forecasting — play in helping deliver aid more transparently and effectively, from conflict zones to cities like our own?
