Roommate Requests

We assign roommates by age to ensure that every camper has the best opportunity to connect with peers in their own peer group. While we understand the comfort of rooming with a sibling, our policy focuses on encouraging campers to meet new people and build confidence independently. Siblings will, of course, have plenty of time to see each other during communal meals and all-camp activities!

Transportation to/from camp is not provided (if your camper is flying into Roanoke or Lynchburg a shuttle will be coordinated to/from the airport). A stipend travel reimbursement is available for families upon request. Participants arriving by car may receive a travel allowance of up to $200 per family for roundtrip travel. Flight reimbursement is prioritized and distributed at 50% of the cost for roundtrip airfare.

Grant funds for travel reimbursement will be distributed via check upon pick-up from camp on Thursday, July 30th. Funds will be prioritized based on method of travel, with priority given to those flying in. Limit of one travel stipend per family, excluding those with multiple campers flying in.

Military Teen Adventure Camp opportunities are the result of a partnership funded by the Department of Defense between the Office of Military Family and Community Policy and the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture through a grant/cooperative agreement with Purdue University.
