    This assessment provides an initial screening based on user-entered information and BC Traffic Management Manual for Work on Roadways (TMM 2020) Tables 3.1 and 3.2.It is intended to assist in determining whether a project may qualify as Category 1. Final project category must be confirmed by the responsible planner, contractor, or road authority based on actual site conditions and applicable regulations.

    The following questions mirror the intent of Table 3.1 in the BC Traffic Management Manual For Work on Roadways (TMM 2020) and help document how the project category was determined.

    In accordance with the BC Traffic Management Manual  for Work on Roadways (TMM 2020) and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Part 18, the site-specific Traffic Control Plan sketch must clearly identify:

    • Work zone limits
    • Traffic control device placement
    • Pedestrian routing (if applicable)
    • Buffer spaces and taper lengths
    • Hazard areas and worker exposure points
    • TCP positions with clearly marked escape routes

    Sketches that do not clearly identify TCP escape routes may be returned for revision.

    You may use the Official TrafficPlan.ca Field Traffic Control Plan Sketch Sheet (1 box = 10 m reference grid), or submit a company standard or engineered drawing where applicable.
