  • Camper Participation Guidelines

    • All campers are expected to abide by all Camper Participation Guidelines. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in a meeting with the Camp Director and Dean to address the issue and find a resolution. If his/her behavior is determined to be unacceptable by camp staff (Camp Director and/or Camp Coordinator) it may result in the removal of the camper from the campgrounds. Parent/guardian will be notified of this decision prior to the camper’s dismissal.
    • No camp tuition refunds will be given in the case of campers having to leave camp early (by parent, camper, or staff request).
    • An application must be completed and signed for all campers.
    • Campers should attend the appropriate camp for their age group. Exceptions must be approved by the Director and should be based upon circumstance and in keeping, as closely as possible, to the set age group. No camper under 18 can attend LEAD camp (No Exceptions).
    • Televisions, electronic games, laptops and non-Christian music should not be brought to camp.
    • Any camper determined by and/or in the opinion of the Camp Nurse, to have an “at risk” medical condition (i.e., contagious disease, head lice, etc.) which would negatively affect either the camper in question or the health of other campers and staff will warrant immediate contact of parent/guardians, and the camper may be dismissed upon discovery.
    • Campers are not allowed to leave the campground once camp has begun without direct staff supervision, Camp Director knowledge and permission. Any time a camper leaves the campground he/she is to sign out on the Off-Campus Accountability Log. Failure to receive permission from the Camp Director prior to leaving the campground will result in dismissal from summer camp. It may also result in future denial of camp attendance.
    • Campers are expected to attend and appropriately participate in all camp programming unless otherwise excused in writing by a camper’s parent/guardian.
    • Deliberate and/or intentional destruction of campground property will not be tolerated and will become the financial responsibility of the camper(s) and/or their parent/guardian. An Accident/Incident Report is to be completed and placed in the camper’s file.
    • Church of God of Prophecy State Campground, Inc., sometimes referred to as Camp Sonshine, is a Christian campground, and it is necessary for all campers to conduct themselves in a morally respectful and responsible manner at all times. Campers are expected to adhere to the moral and ethical principles and policies of Camp Sonshine and the Church of God of Prophecy. Please note infractions such as, but not limited to, sexually promiscuous behavior, fighting, using tobacco, alcohol, or non-prescribed drugs, or bringing firearms or weapons on the campground are taken very seriously and can result in immediate dismissal. In addition to this, campers are to follow all local, state, and federal laws. Failure to do so can lead to notification of parent/guardians, potential dismissal, and/or criminal prosecution. An Accident/Incident Report is to be completed and placed in the camper’s file.
    • The use of tobacco, marijuana, drugs, alcohol, profanity, or any unprescribed substances is prohibited along with the possession of weapons, firearms or fireworks. This includes nicotine delivery devices (e.g. vapes, Juuls, etc.) All prescribed and over-the-counter medicines (substances) are to be kept by the nurse. The FL camping ministry reserves the right to search camper, luggage or room. A violation may result in dismissal from camp and notification to proper authorities if applicable.
    • Care should be given in choosing of one's apparel. We are a Christian camp and camper’s clothing should reflect Christian principles of modesty. Shorts and dresses must be at a decent length. Shorts must be at least fingertip length. Back and midriffs must remain covered when standing or seated. Halter tops are not allowed. Shirts must not fall below the cleavage line. Apparel that symbolizes tobacco, drugs, alcohol, violence, or profanity is not allowed. Summer temperatures can be very hot, so we recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing to help campers stay cool and prevent overheating.
    • Campers are not to leave their dorms at night after curfew, or before the morning wake-up time without appropriate (Director/Dean) staff knowledge and permission.
    • Young men should not be in the ladies’ dorms at any time, nor should ladies be in the men’s dorms.
