    4pm Friday 22nd - 4pm Monday 25th May 2026
  • About the event:

The SOIL Wider Community Gathering is the second in Braziers Park’s series of themed Wider Community gatherings, inspired by Satish Kumar’s Soil ~ Soul ~ Society framework. Over the bank holiday weekend, we will come together to explore our relationship with soil – as living matter, as metaphor, and as the ground that sustains us.

Join us for a gentle, joyful, and nourishing weekend offering space to slow down, reconnect with the land, and be part of a warm and curious community. Through nature-connection practices, communal meals, walking, and simply spending time together, the gathering invites us to share, learn, and root ourselves more deeply in place.

Across the weekend, you can expect a relaxed mix of informal workshops led by members of the Braziers community and invited guests. Planned activities include an introduction-to-soil talk, gardening for wellbeing, foraging walks, garden harvest and communal cooking sessions, herbal remedies, natural dyeing with plants, bonfires, themed film evenings, and plenty of time to rest, reflect, and explore the grounds at Braziers Park.

As many sessions focus on connecting directly with the land, most activities will take place outdoors, often on uneven ground, and may involve walking, hands-on making, and active participation. If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility, please email education@braziers.org.uk – we will always do our best to accommodate individual needs and explore how sessions can be made as accessible and welcoming as possible.

Rooted in Satish Kumar’s Soil ~ Soul ~ Society philosophy, this gathering encourages us to honour soil not only as an ecological foundation, but as a source of connection, resilience, and renewal.

You are welcome to join for a single day or the extended weekend. The full programme will be published closer to the date.
