Relief Block Printing Workshop: In this one-day introductory printmaking workshop, participants with be carving “one of kind” snowflake designs into Soft Kut printing blocks. This rubber type of block is easier to carve and is a good alternative to the harder relief materials such as battleship linoleum. Studio time will be spent designing and transferring the drawing to the block, instruction to the care and use of carving tools, how to register block for the inking and printing of block on paper. Water based inks will be used.
The session will begin with a free an open talk by Susan in our 'Ink & Pressed' exhibition in the Hills Gallery at 65 Water St, Newburyport, MA 01950. After the talk students will walk 2 blocks south to Susan's Studio for the duration of the class. If this is a problem for you, please email us at education@newburyportart.org.
