Due to the number of applications we receive, we regret that we cannot give personalized feedback to each applicant.

The full cost of the residency is $1250. If you are in a position to pay the full residency fee, we ask for your honesty and respect to select this tier. We are counting on some paying the full fee in order to give opportunities to other artists in our community. What is better than artists supporting fellow artists, and sharing our abundance? Otherwise, please self-select one of the discount tiers in accordance with the need of your financial situation. The tier you select within these three options won't affect your chances of acceptance. For those artists in need of even deeper assistance, we are happy to offer, thanks to generous donors, the Br. Justin Fellowship that allows artists to come to the residency with an artist’s contribution of $350. These fellowships are limited to only a few artists each session, and therefore these artists will be considered within this fellowship applicant pool.

The following commitments are to help maintain a safe and respectful community during our time at the monastery. A note on selection: applications are read by a selection committee of artists that consists of Orein alumni, staff, advisors and/or volunteers, and are NOT read blind. We will try to have a decision on your application by late April.
