What do you see when you look at the ocean? Participants will recreate their views using a variety of yarns, cloth, and fibers to create an ocean tapestry. Recommended for adults and youth ages 13 and up. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop is led by local artist and PMM Education Assistant Veronica Maresh Mead.
Shell Art Workshop
1pm-4pm
Victorians loved decorating and crafting with nature and that includes using shells. This workshop will include a visit to the Penobscot Marine Museum’s Merithew House to get inspired by shell art pieces on exhibit. Then participants will create their own shell art. There will be a huge variety of shells, plus sand, seeds, and beads. Participants can choose whether they want to make a shell wreath, picture frame, sailors’ valentine, or a rectangular piece. All materials are provided. Recommended for adults and youth ages 13 and up. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.
