Because jail notarizations have unique challenges, please take a moment to review these important terms before we begin:
đź”’ Notary Assignment & Professional Standards
The Document Diva operates as a professional notary services company. Depending on scheduling, location, and facility requirements, your appointment may be completed by LaShon James-Major or by a trained, vetted notary on the Document Diva team.
All notaries assigned to jail facilities are:
Commissioned, bonded, and insured in the State of California
Experienced with jail and detention facility notarizations
Fully briefed on your specific appointment and documents
Held to the same professional, confidentiality, and service standards as The Document Diva
Your pricing, level of care, and service expectations remain the same regardless of which notary is assigned.
đź’µ Fee & Services
Your quoted fee includes travel, notarization, and up to one hour at the facility. Additional services, such as mailing, time beyond one hour, a return trip, or travel to a second location, are available at an extra cost.
If a return trip is needed, the fee is $100. Appointments are typically completed within an hour; however, if additional time is required, the rate is $50 per hour (or portion thereof).
đź”’ Jail Conditions
Jails can experience delays—such as lockdowns, staff shortages, or last-minute rule changes—that are entirely outside of our control.
đźš« No Guarantee of Notarization
This service is based on time and effort, not outcome. The fee covers preparation, travel, and an on-site attempt, regardless of whether the notarization is completed.
If the inmate refuses, is unavailable, or cannot be located, the fee is still due in full. Once travel begins, no refunds are issued.
⏱️ Additional Charges
Time beyond one hour is billed at an hourly rate, and a return trip requires an additional trip fee.

Notaries cannot provide legal advice or prepare documents. Clients are responsible for ensuring the inmate is informed, available, and willing to sign.
⚖️ Limitation of Liability
The Document Diva is not responsible for facility delays, lockdowns, rule changes, or inmate cooperation. By booking, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
