Lighting 101

Lighting 101 is a class designed to take you from knowing little or nothing about concert lighting to having the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to operate and troubleshoot a basic lighting system. Topics covered include common lighting fixtures and their uses, signal flow fundamentals, the basics of DMX protocol, an overview of lighting consoles, and more. The class also includes hands-on experience with professional lighting gear, helping students build confidence through real-world application. By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of how lighting systems work and be prepared to use them effectively in practical settings.
